This apparatus, mounted on a rolled steel joist cantilevered from the back of the truck or fitted to the underside of a mobile frame, can be used to determine the bearing capacity of soils quickly and efficiently.

Applications

The CBR test measures the shear strength of soil and is used in pavement design to assess the load-bearing capacity of subgrade soil. The test provides a CBR value, which is expressed as a percentage and is used in the design of flexible pavements.

Brief construction details :

  1. Mechanical screw loading jack, 100 KN capacity with U-bracket and swivel head.
  2. Penetration Piston of 50 mm diameter, threaded at upper end, to connect to the various lengths of extension sleeves through connectors
  3. Piston Extension Rods set consisting of 50 cm and 100 cm, used as spacers between the proving ring and penetration piston. The extension lengths are machined from steel tubing.
  4. Connector Set consisting of eight connectors for coupling the penetration piston and proving ring assembly, either directly or through extension pieces.
  5. Datum Bar Assembly of seamless pipe construction (2 meter) with two support stands of 30cm high x 45cm wide at the base. Provided with a quick release screw type clamp capable of sliding and locking anywhere along 2 meter length of the bridge.
  6. Annular Metal Weight 5 Kg – 250 mm dia, with 53mm dia central hole – 01 No.
  7. Slotted Metal Weight 5 Kg – 215mm to 250mm dia with 53mm slot – 02 Nos.
  8. Slotted Metal Weight 10Kg – 215mm to 250mm dia with 53mm slot – 02 Nos.
  9. Dial Gauge 0.01mm X 25mm travel
