Compliance with following International Standards:

ASTM D1754, IS 1212 , ASTM D 2872 & AASHTO T240

Purpose:

Oven is designed to determine the effects of heat and air on a film of semisolid asphaltic materials. The effects of this treatment are determined from measurements of selected asphalt properties before and after the test.

Details of Apparatus:

The entire test method comprises one each of Hot Air oven, Rotating Shelf, Sample Containers and Thermometer as per following descriptions.

Hot Air Oven:

  1. CE Certified design
  2. Internal circuit wiring as per CE Norms
  3. High density glass wool insulation is filled up in all sides of chamber to offer minimum chamber heat loss
  4. Oven is fitted with heating elements on all three sides, ensuring uniform temperature distribution throughout the working chamber
  5. With built-in forced air circulation arrangement for uniform heat distribution inside the working chamber
  6. Special heavy duty Stainless steel lock and door hinges with spring and roller mechanism
  7. Oven door contains observation window of dimensions 100 x 100 mm (4 x 4 in) and with two sheets of glass separated by an air space, through which a vertical thermometer can be read without opening the door
  8. Rotating shelf constructed such that it offers minimum resistance to air circulation for better heat distribution while sample container are in place
  9. Thermometer holder (fits in circular shaft of shelf), which holds thermometer in vertical position
  10. Adjustable air ventilation mounted at top
  11. Operation on 220/230 Volt, 50 Hz, Single phase, AC Supply
  12. Complete with pilot indicating lamps, 2 meter cord wire and power plug.

Rotating Shelf:

  1. Single metal circular shelf having diameter between 250-450 mm as per ASTM D1754
  2. Shelf construction is such that it provides a flat surface for support of the containers without blocking air circulation, through the shelf, when the containers are in place.
  3. Shelf is suspended by a vertical shaft and centered with respect to the horizontal interior dimensions of the oven
  4. Shelf is rotated by electric motor at a rate of 5.5 ± 1.0 RPM as per ASTM D1754
  5. Can accommodate four (4) sample containers

Sample Containers:

  1. Inside Diameter : 140 mm
  2. Depth         : 9.5 mm
